Roofing Repair in Northwest DC

Hoover Roofing recently completed this roof repair in Northwest DC.

Existing Spanish roof field tiles that were located on both sides of a dormer needed to be replaced. We removed them from both sides of the dormer as well as the flat slab tiles from the sides of the dormer. The tile had been leaking and this caused the wood under it to rot. We determined the extent of the rotting wood, replaced it and installed a new waterproofing membrane over both sides of the dormer and both sides of the rear slope to prevent it from happening again or getting worse.

We fabricated and installed new copper metal pan flashing along both sides of the dormer. A new custom copper vent pipe collar was also needed, so we fabricated one and installed it with new copper flashing around the existing chimney.

Fortunately, we were able to salvage many of the existing Spanish roof field tiles and reinstall them using new copper roof nails. Hoover Roofing also furnished additional tile where old couldn’t be salvaged and put the Spanish hip caps back into place.

We then mixed up a concrete mix and waterproofed along both sides of the hip caps, by filling the voids with the concrete mix
